'Til all are one.

It's over. Bloggimus Time is truly done for now. But wait! What's that? A new dawn for Bloggimus Time in the form of Bloggimus Time v2.0!? That's right, I've moved on to a new blog site. And I have to say, Wordpress.com seems like a quality blog tool. Better than this filthy old taffer anyway.

So parting is such sweet sorrow and all that jazz. All my new posts are going to happen on Bloggimus 2 now (I feel such a geek now I've named it v2.0, dear me.)

Anyway, I thought I'd leave with some famous last words or something. Looking through Wikiquote, I found an entry for Edward John Smith, Captain of the Titanic and product of God's city: Stoke-on-Trent. The entry led to his Wikipedia page, and in a bid to prove Wikipedia's greatness of a reference tool; it lists a few unsourced accounts of his last words. They range from 'Be British boys, be British!' to 'Everyman for himself!' One one hand, I have this vision of a true gentleman staring death in the face armed only his stiff upper lip.

On the other, I've this image of a panicking crazy clambering over men, women and children to get to the remaining lifeboats.

Which image would I like Bloggimus Time (1) to be left with I wonder? Here's that link one more time: toddgledhill.wordpress.com. Take it away, Private Hudson.

Annoying bird! I am the great Leon!

Okay, the following images were what I decided to show to the rest of the final year exhibition ident team. The meeting was decide on the final design of the exhibit so that other jobs, such as DVD creation etc, could go ahead.

Personally, I think the green has a little more 'punch'. The last one, silver, preferably would have a silver emboss. Cash permitting of course.

Wanted...like a kick up the pipe.

The following is a few early designs I made for the final year exhibition ident:

Laid out in chronological order of creation, I think you can see the workings there.

Waketh, and... smell the ashes.

E'gads! The dead walkth the earth! Bloggimus Time hath risen like a satanic breadloaf!

Yes, I'm back writing on here. And, no, its not a permanent return. I haven't the time to get my head around CSS just yet but I can't neglect blog posting because of my own inabilities eh? So until a change over happens, I'm going to continue posting here.

Thou might say, there hath been 'a stayth of execution.' Verily.

It also appears that I picked up a medieval speech impediment while I was away. I'll try modern things up a little.

The Darkness comes!! IT WILL DAMN US ALL!!

Oh dear. Is this the end of Bloggimus Time? Having looked at the creation of my own personal website, I've come across terapad.com. It's a web 2.0 blog site, and its seems more powerful than this old stinker. It may turn out to be another stepping stone to when I get my own site but, so far, it looks like a good place to start my image.

It's not over yet for Bloggimus Time but things look bleak. I'll shall look into this new site and see if it suits my needs. My page is at toddgledhill.terapad.com by the way. If this is truly the end though 'tis a sad day but isn't death the biggest adventure in life?

Was it not the great sage Peter Pan who said "To die would be an awfully big adventure."?

Far out, far out.

Spend an eternity... in purgatory!

As part of PDP, I'm having evaluate my working future and how I'm going about it. I think. Anyway, I had a review week at uni which offered the chance for advice from the lectures present. What I gathered from it was that I shouldn't be focusing on learning a whole new skill. At least not yet. So fibreglassing up a few 3 foot skulls is out of the question in a practical sense. The review presentation taught me that, sure, it'd get me noticed but it wouldn't display my animation skills. Which is true, especially since I haven't got the all important show-reel yet. I had a quick glance at a few animation based jobs and the most common requirement is a show-reel. Taffer.

Okay, I need to go over a few things in my own mind for a second. Hold on to your ass:

Upcoming goals:

Plan client project.
Plan research project.
A formal write up on PDP.
Consider what is needed for show-reel.
Plan a website, theme & portfolio.
Throw some weight to the end-of-year exhibition.

Right, that was a mini to do list for myself. I think I'll post an entry on here of each subject later. Currently, I'm a little tired of typing. All work and no play etc...

When I've had a suffice break I'll make a load of labels for the posts on this page too so its easy to navigate.

This is... the true meaning... of despair.

Well I was meant to post my final storyboard for my first client project here but there are formatting issues and, by god, its driving me crazy. CRAZY I TELL YOU. So I thought I'd post this so the sadistic amongst you can wallow in my despair. For everyone else, it'll be posted due haste. Currently though I've more important blogs to post. Hear me now.

Like that? That's called getting whooped.

Skull sculpting, how is that going? I hear you not asking. Well, I'm upset you didn't ask because I've done a fair bit of moving and shaking in this department. I've continued looking into molding, sculpting and designing physical objects. Of which includes stuff like fibreglass, epoxy resin amongst other things. I've lead to some conclusions of this idea after my review week presentation so read that for more information.

Wait, the skull sculpting hasn't died just yet! I give you, transcending history, a skull carved from dry oasis foam using only a penknife, my bare hands and utmost shrewdness:

TAFFERS! Well that image didn't turn out as expected. I suspect some goblins in the midst. Or Photoshop liberties on my part. Anyway, these photos taken on my mobile phone (I know, double taffer) are of the stages I went though in carving my skull. Realise this extra skill: in carving the skull the feel of the foam went right through me. Yuk! But I powered on for the good of the skull-love.

Mainly, I did it so I have a physical concept of a skull's form. The result was a caricature of a skull if anything. While I mean to be more realistic in the design, I don't want to be too medical. If you get me Bruce?

GET ME!

Ars moriendi.

Holla holla holla! Having dropped '07 projects like bad habits I'm now looking to the future. Before I do a quick note: I'm going to offer insight to my upcoming client and research project in another blog post later. I still haven't put my storyboard project up on here yet so expect that first. So maybe I'm not looking forward to the future after all. ACCURSED!

But I haven't posted on here to talk about contradictions, no. I've come to talk about my portfolio. It forms part of my Personal Development Plan (PDP) required of the uni so it's important I show some working here. So, what have I planned?

Well, it'd be nice to do something creative with my portfolio. Rather than a plain folder, I thought I'd make something around the idea of a skull. Turns out, I use skulls in some fashion quite a lot. In clothes, footwear, candles... Actually, I'm sure I've talked about my skull-love before on this blog? Reading back, it seems there is intermittent commentary on skulls and death. Oh, check out a starring roll in After Death for further usage.

The skull-love is all over my work like skin on a skull (see what I did there?) so a skull-shaped portfolio probably makes sense. Probably. Okay, to further reinforce the use of a skull I'll discuss my feelings on them.

Firstly, the symbolism of a skull is extremely strong. It can represent life, death and the afterlife. It instills a natural danger in people yet it can define the natural beauty of the human form and evolution. In an artistic sense, it's lines and forms are crafted with an organic finesse unique to nature.

Secondly, they're damn cool. Especially when they're on fire.

I've looked at a few arts, articles and artifacts skull related and I've turned up some good stuff. Danse Macabre, scenes in Hamlet, Memento mori have proved interesting. They appealed to me in the way that each used death as a form of art, symbolism and/or expression. However, in the dust of all this high art, there is a character in the not-so-great videogame series, Street Fighter EX, called Skullomania. There is plenty of backstory to Skullomania, presumably Skullo to fans, but it isn't too important. What is important is this cool video I found on YoubasTubebas. It's a video of Skullomania doing his special combination move: Skullo Dream (Awesome name.) The move itself is a bit absurd; quick, successive cuts of each attacks impact. As the game series as gone on, the Skullo Dream has become increasingly bizarre; featuring sitting down for green tea amongst other none-fightlike things. Which blows my mind a bit. In good way.

Anyway, the video is notable for the excellent sound track choice. It isn't the game's original soundtrack but Justice's Phantom Part II. Which is an awesome shout out. So I doth my cap to the video's author. Here's it is:

I'm feeling a little troubled that I enjoyed something a bit more trashy than the other art work I explored before but, hey, I guess a Street Fighter reference is closer to my heart. The move's gag feels kind of neo-alternative too. I'm not entirely confident that Japanese humor has been explored much in western media. So it is interesting in a sense to take new ideas from it. Obviously, there are examples but not as many as there could be. Maybe I'll look into this.

Until next time, dear reader, keep them Skullo Dreams alive.

Straight out of nowhere-ness.

Holla holla. I'm back, all the way from the 5th Circle of Hell. Oh man, it was horrible, between almost drowning and fighting with a real angry bloke I had a load of uni work to do and a ma-ha-ssive hangover. Seriously, it was a doozy. My brain felt like two sizes too big for my skull. Thankfully, I managed to hitch a ride out of hell on a passing skiff so I'm counting my blessings this time. Not sure if I'll be so lucky next time. I'll never drink gin again.

Anyway, I've come on to give you a heads up on the uni work I managed to do while there. I finished my first client project: the insect spray one. It turned out really well. As soon as get it ready for Bloggimus Time I'll post and evaluate it. And if you're lucky, I'll tell you how I fixed my printer too. In Hell.

Another thing, having both a PC and a Mac now, I'm becoming educated between working with files between both. Particularly video files and codecs. I'm hoping to give a brief chat about that on here. For my own reference if anything.

So, I'm still alive. Just. Lasciate ogne speranza, voi ch'intrate means lasciate ogne speranza, voi ch'intrate okay?
